After researching about this project all of my assumptions were true, the values of a country does greatly depend on the economic status of that country. Although I only give a couple examples for countries and their values I fell like my question was sill well justified. The reason Haiti and the United States have such different materialistic values is because of their economic status and there position on the value ladder.
I think that having different values all over the world is a good think because it is important for economic growth and economic diversity. If all of the countries have the same values than the demand for some products would decrease and the diversity on products would also decrease. Another reason that the change in values is a good thing is because it is nice to see and experience different cultures around the world. I also think that not 1 set of values is *better* than another, certain values/life styles might be envied but that doesn't make them better. Every countries values are important for the structure of life around the world.
